If we are drilling offshore for Oil, should we Nationalize the oil for National security reasons?

So that the US can guarantee it will get the oil, and it wont be sold to China or Europe? If we are drilling offshore for Oil, should we Nationalize the oil for National security reasons?
Yes we should...

...But I would like to thank you for calling attention to this fact that nearly ALL mindless ';Drill Baby Drill'; NeoCons don't seem to understand : If we ';drill here, drill now';, the oil enters the WORLD market...that's how it works. If we don't open up our oil to the world, the world will close off it's oil to us. That is a VERY VERY dangerous stance to take. If we are drilling offshore for Oil, should we Nationalize the oil for National security reasons?
Also, Tim W, the vast majority of the US's oil comes from Canada. Thats a fact. You can look it up. Report Abuse

It's a really stupid idea regardless of what Red thinks.

You don't need to take my word for it. Just look at the production data for countries that have nationalized their oil lately like Mexico and Venezuela.

If we do drill for more oil here, which we should, it would be added to the world market. In addition to having some added measure of energy security, when prices go up again we could buy more domestic oil which would keep our dollars here and lower our trade deficit.

Hint: That's a good thing!

I don't understand how the same idiots who don't think we should not drill for more oil here say we shouldn't worry about the security of oil from the Middle East. How is that possible?
The US government should drill for oil to fund itself.
