Why is Obama lending OUR money to Brazil for them to drill for THEIR oil offshore?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424鈥?/a>Why is Obama lending OUR money to Brazil for them to drill for THEIR oil offshore?
Obama loaned the money to Petrobras of Brazil to payback George Soros for helping to get him elected.Why is Obama lending OUR money to Brazil for them to drill for THEIR oil offshore?
It's a loan...we will make money off of it.

How can you cry about him spending too much AND cry about him trying to make some money back at the same time???

Just admit it...anything he does you will cry about.
Obama invested in Brazil:

';The Obama administration has committed $2 billion in loans to exploit offshore oil resources in hopes of extracting a major new source of petroleum. Despite the White House pursuit of a cap-and-trade scheme to limit the use of fossil fuels, the new field could help bring lower energy prices, and their support of this exploration of American resources shows their flexibility on energy policy.';

When it didn't make sense:

';This seems odd in several ways. For this particular administration to offer billions in loans to a foreign oil company makes a mockery of a number of Obama talking points. First, why does Petrobas need loan guarantees to pursue its exploration? As the WSJ notes, it is a very large corporation, which should have the resources to get to the oil on its own. Obama, who has ripped American corporations for their supposed subsidies in American tax policy, now wants to use an empty Treasury to give cash to a Brazilian oil company.

Next, Obama keeps insisting that we cut back on our use of fossil fuels. He and his allies in Congress have blocked exploration of American oil fields off both shores for decades, and Obama insists that we would only keep enabling our oil addiction if we started drilling off of our own coasts. Yet he has no trouble committing $2,000,000,000 of our money for Brazil to drill off its own coast.';

B/c George Soros is invested there...

';Is it a coincidence that Obama backer George Soros repositioned himself in Petrobras to get dividends just a few days before Obama committed $2 billion in loans and guarantees for Petrobras鈥?offshore operations?';

and he (Soros) got Obama elected....

';He also gave at least $150,000 to ACORN';

';Soros pledged $10 million to ACT, which has since been fined $775,000 for illegally funneling $70 million set aside for voter registrations to Democratic candidates';

';Two groups 鈥?Americans Coming Together and the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now 鈥?were sanctioned recently by the Federal Election Commission for fraud';

About Soros:

';He calls himself a philanthropist and has given away $5 billion of his now $8.5 billion fortune through his principal vehicle, the Open Society Institute. The institute, in turn, has passed cash on to far more radical groups, such as MoveOn.org.';

His past:

';To read Soros' own spun story, he's a Jewish survivor of Nazi-occupied Hungary who pulled himself up by his bootstraps, studied economics in England, became a U.S. citizen in 1961 and made a multibillion-dollar fortune as a financier who pioneered hedge funds.';

He fought to bring down Bush:

';MoveOn.org, a previously small fringe-left group to which Soros has given $5 million since 2004. Bulked up by cash, the group now uses professional public relations tactics to undercut the Iraq War effort, with its latest a full-page New York Times ad that branded Gen. Petraeus ';General Betray Us.';

It ran Sept. 10 in the New York Times, the same day Petraeus delivered his progress report on the surge in Iraq.

MoveOn.org previously put out ads depicting Bush as a Nazi, something that certainly echoes Soros' sentiment.';

He is funding voter fraud, indirectly:

';Soros pledged $10 million to ACT, which has since been fined $775,000 for illegally funneling $70 million set aside for voter registrations to Democratic candidates';

';He also gave at least $150,000 to ACORN, the left-wing group best known for pushing minimum-wage hikes, marching for illegal-immigrant amnesty and harassing Wal-Mart. ACORN has been accused of voter fraud in 13 states since 2004 and was convicted of falsifying signatures in a voter registration drive last July, drawing a fine of $25,000 in Washington state.';

Not-So-US-Friendly Connections:

';Soros' Open Society Institute gave $20,000 for the legal defense of radical attorney Lynne Stewart. She was convicted in 2002 of abetting jailed terrorists after the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.';

';On the international front, Soros-backed groups have undercut important U.S. allies, including Israel and Colombia, which have aligned with the U.S. rather than the U.N';

Wants a 1 world Government:

';Soros additionally finances groups supporting the interests of one-world government. While he has criticized the United Nations occasionally, he favors U.N. dominance in world affairs, sees the European Union as a model for ';open society'; and has called for a global central bank.';

Hope this Helps :)
He's a smart politician.

The real question should be, why aren't all the groups up in arms about big oil profits, polluting the ocean, and importing too much oil complaining about this at the same magnitude they were complaining in 2007?

Answer: Those groups are just tools of the DNC to whip out against Republicans.
Because the U.S, is the richest country in the world?? This will make him look good in foreign countries. We still aren't recognized as anything but replacable subordinates.
So they can pay it back with interest, and we can come out ahead. It's called ';financing,'; and it's also the principal way banks make money.

Duh.
He needs the fuel for his new vehicles coming out of the Obama motors plant they are building there.
Because to him, it's OPM...
Because it's SMART. We get a nice source of oil that isn't from the middle east (our enemies) this will help decouple our energy needs from our national security needs. Also It allows us to not have to drill into our own precious petroleum reserves.. which I'm certain you are going to be glad we have held on to in about 10 years or so.. Use other peoples oil first... It's not really ethical... but it's certainly savvy when dealing with a finite resource.

This is a good move on many levels.
Maybe at some very deep dark hidden level, he whispers to himself, reality exists. I am the president of the United States and maintaining the whole milk and cookie solution is dangerously naive. Maybe enough light has gotten in that he no longer automatically abandons possible solutions that do not involve imaginary planets.
Kickback money!
It's not taxpayer money. The loan is coming from the US Import Bank, which is not funded by taxpayer money.

The U.S. Export Import Bank's sole purpose is to lend money to foreign companies for the purchase of American goods and services.

Loan. With interest. We come out on top.

Fun fact: Brazil sends us 188,000 barrels of oil PER DAY.

Another fun fact: Bush signed off on a $30 billion bailout (note: not a loan) to Brazil in 2002. Where was the outrage then?
I hate all of these make money scams on the internet. If you really want to make money online, check out the blackhatguide.n e t membership program.
theres always a catch. america gives countries $1, and take back $5.
Because it is not taxpayer money being spent. It is money from the International Bank, and as such, it is to be used only internationally, not domestically.
Before you all jump on me with thumbs down, read the entire post, and don't let politics cloud your judgment or fuel your reactions.

First of all, I did not vote for Obama. Okay,we got that out there in the clear.

Secondly, giving money to Brazil to drill for oil might be a good thing, and let me explain why. Some other posters already hit the nail on the head, but let me reiterate. We get most of our oil from 3 places, the Middle East, Brazil, and a little bit from home. We don't get much oil from the U.S. because we don't drill for it much. Buying oil from the Middle East is foolish, since we are currently engaged in 2 wars in that region, with a possible third war on the horizon. Rule of thumb: Don't do business in war torn, destabilized regions of the world.

We have a friendly relationship with Brazil, and we can strengthen that relationship while saving money, if we invest in drilling for oil there. We lend them money to drill for more oil. When they start performing on a large scale, they can save money by utilizing economies of scale (Macro-Economic 101). We can then buy the oil from them at a reduced cost. Plus, look at how much closer Brazil is than the Middle East. I am sure that shipping costs will play a huge role in reducing the cost of oil from Brazil.

Do we have oil in the U.S.? Yes. Should we drill it right now? Wellll....not really. Listen. We have a good supply of natural reserves, and we should keep it that way until things get bad. As long as we don't drill it, it's an ace in the hole, that we can hold on to for a rainy day. Other countries might try to abuse our thirst for oil in some kind of political game play, and we come out of left field with ';Hahah, screw you, we actually DO have oil.';, it might be useful. Plus, until we have to, it's not worth running the risk of having a domestic oil spill. It's safer underground that it ever will be if we dig it up and keep it in silos. It's not going anywhere, there is no hurry to dig it up until the rest of the world runs dry.
So they will sell it to EXXONMOBILE cheap so EXXONMOBILE can sell it to China and make huge profits. More corporate welfare. Corporations are really great, right?
We buy oil from them and they are easier to deal with than the middle east.
He'd rather send the money and the jobs out of the country than drill for oil here at home.

Maybe he thinks it's not polluting if it's done a few thousand miles away.
Our money that we have borrowed from China ! sounds like the deals they make in the hood !
The same reason why Bush did it elsewhere. At least gas prices didn't go up because of Obama. Did you expect us to be able to still drill in the Middle East after all this?
